ADTC Team-Player – Meet Emily S. from VT!

“I think my A.D.T.C. superpower is being a Team-Player because I like to make everyone feel comfortable. But my biggest goal in life right now is to get out of my comfort zone and be uncomfortable doing one thing every day.

I am an introvert and am shy, so doing things in any public scenario makes me a little stressed. The most daring thing I’ve done is going to my college orientation alone – I was literally on my own with about 500 freshman, and as an introvert, being in that type of situation was a little overwhelming. However, I made new friends and ended up being fine.

My proudest accomplishment has to be getting into a college that has a 10% acceptance rate. Not only did I get into the school, but I got into their nursing program. I want other girls to know that when they are struggling with something, like dance, it’s okay. If you keep working on it, you will feel proud of yourself in the end.”

ADTC: What is your True Color Personality Style?

Emily S: I am a mix of blue and gold. With these two colors combined, I think the description is me perfectly. I like to be organized and like to care for others. I also feel like I’m an easy person to talk to.

ADTC: Who is your Idol?

Emily S: Ever since I read and saw the Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence has been my idol because she doesn’t care what people say about her and has a good sense of humor.

ADTC: Why do you love to dance?

Emily S: I love to dance because it is a de-stressor for me. Dance is a way for me to express my emotions without having to say anything. Dance also lets me forget about the bad things in my life for a little bit.

ADTC: Tell us about a difficult situation in your life and how you got through it. What did you learn?

Emily S: Since sixth grade, I’ve always struggled with math. My parents had me see a tutor to help me overcome this struggle, and it definitely helped. Even though math isn’t my strongest suit, I’ve gotten much more confident with my math skills.

ADTC: What is the your favorite ADTC memory & why?

Emily S: One of my favorite camp memories was the first year that I ever came – my roommate and I stayed up late talking after the Friday Night Show.
