ADTC Dreamer – Meet Alexis G. from MI!

“My A.D.T.C. Superpower is I’m a dreamer. I’m always wanting to improve what I’m doing. I work hard and don’t waste time. There are a lot of things about this world that I want to change. For example, when I get older I want to use less waste and end animal abuse.

One difficult time in my life was when I found out we were moving. I was about 7 years old and going into 2nd grade. I can still remember the day my parents told me – I was happy, but also really sad. I had made a lot of good friends and I didn’t want to leave. What I learned from this is that in the bad times there are always going to be good things as well. Although I was moving away from all my good friends, I ended up making many new friends, and I started to dance after we moved.

I want girls to learn that they can accomplish anything as long as they are committed to it. They should always work hard and put others before themselves.”

ADTC: What is your True Color Personality Style?

Alexis G: I am Orange. Orange represents people who are adventurous and spontaneous, active and optimistic. They are also competitive and bold yet generous. I can relate to many of these characteristics.

ADTC: Who is your Idol?

Alexis G: I have so many idols that it’s hard to pick just one. They have all taught me how to work through the toughest times in life, and how to always stay positive. These people have made an impact on my life because even in the worst times in my life I still found a way to stay positive.

ADTC: Why do you love to dance?

Alexis G: I love to dance because dancing gives me a way to express how I feel without speaking. Just like many others, I don’t enjoy public speaking. Not only does it give me anxiety, it also makes me feel less confident in myself. That’s why I love dance. When I dance, I’m able to express how I feel while performing in front of others. Dancing gives me that little bit of confidence that everyone needs. Dancing is my way of showing others how I feel through movement.

ADTC: What is your proudest accomplishment & why?

Alexis G: My proudest accomplishment is when I won my first scholarship at a dance convention. I remember how happy I was when my number got called up on stage; there were so many other girls who wanted a scholarship, and I’m very grateful that I was one of the few people who got one.

ADTC: What goals are you working on right now (in both dance & life)?

Alexis G: A goal that I’m working on in dance and in life is to learn things faster. This is going to help me a lot in dance and in the real world because in dance you have to be able to learn choreography really quickly to be able to become a better dancer. In the real world, being able to learn things faster can help you pass tests in school and make it easier to remember important information.

ADTC: What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? What did you learn?

Alexis G: There are so many daring things that I’ve done in my life and it’s hard to think of just one. I decided to go to ADTC dance camp – two states away – without knowing anyone. I’ve attended dance conventions without anyone from my studio. Each thing I’ve done taught me to take changes and get out of my comfort zone.

ADTC: What is the your favorite ADTC memory & why?

Alexis G: One of my favorite memories from ADTC last year was the very first day. On the first day I was able to find my room, meet the new teachers, and meet new people who I would be working with throughout the week! I was so excited.
