Heather Gaffin is from Pennsylvania, but has spent the last two years pursuing her professional dance career in NYC. She began taking classes at Broadway Dance Center with Sheila Barker at the age of 12 and now trains mostly with Tracie Stanfield. She has attended The Rock School Jazz Intensive, Rock School West, Metropolitan Ballet Academy, NYC Dance Alliance Summer Intensive under the direction of Joe Lanteri, Alvin Ailey Summer Professional Program, Tremaine LA Intensive at Millenium Dance, EDGE Performing Arts Center and Broadway Dance Center Winter and Summer Intensives.
During high school Heather spent numerous weekends traveling with Tremaine Dance Conventions as a member of the Apprentice Program under the direction of Joe Tremaine and Desiree Robbins. Heather was also a member of the Counselor Program at Broadway Dance Center where she assisted Liz Imperio, Doug Caldwell, Joshua Bergasse and Eddie Garcia.
After graduating high school Heather was accepted into the Broadway Dance Center Professional Program under the
direction of Wes Veldink. Heather is currently a member of Clarity in Motion, a new contemporary dance company currently showcasing choreography by Dina Castelluccio, Karen Nerkowski and Lauren Barrett. Some of Heather’s NYC performance experience includes “Falling Awake” Showcase, Uptown Performance Series, DRA Benefit “CT Dancers for Good”, International Dance Festival with Broadway Dance Center, choreography by A.C Ciulla and Eddia Garcia, as well as with Summer Performance Lab directed by Tracie Stanfield.
Heather has been teaching and choreographing lyrical, contemporary, jazz and musical theater for 5 years in PA, NJ and NY. Her students have won numerous titles, scholarships and overall awards. Heather loves working with kids of all ages and really tries to focus on performance, not just technique. As a dancer herself, she is constantly learning new things and being inspired by so many wonderful people that she feels like it makes her a better teacher and choreographer for her own classes. For Heather, there is never just a combination of steps -
there is always a story behind it or a reason for moving in a certain way. Heather joined us at ADTC in the summer of 2007 as a Junior Instructor-Counselor, but was quickly promoted to Instructor-Counselor...and she loved every second of it! “There is nothing better than working with a bunch of girls who share my passion for dance!”
