WHY MELODY ROCKS

Melody McGregor is professionally disciplined in ballet, jazz, modern dance, lyrical dance and hip hop. She began her training at the National Ballet School in Toronto Ontario as well as the Quinte Ballet School of Canada in Belleville Ontario. She has also trained at the Millennium Complex in Los Angeles with big names such as Brian Friedman, Shane Sparks (from "So You Think You Can Dance!"), Luther Brown, D.A. Hoskins, Darryl Tracy, Christopher House, Roberto Campanella, Martine Lamy, Menina Fortunato and Nadia Potts (who was Mikhail Baryshnikov's dance partner).

Melody's performance experience includes countless movies and TV shows, including "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen", "Resident Evil," "Apocalypse," "Dawn of the Dead," and a supporting actress role in the TV show, "4 Years to Life."   Additional performance credits include the Nutcraker, Les Sylphides, and Don Quixote ballets; Niagra Grape and Wine Festival, Muskoka Dance Festival and Insideout Productions Company; and most recently at her University, D.A. Hoskins' piece, "Lick," and Vicki St. Deny's piece, "Pulse."

Along with 2 years of teaching and assisting at ADTC, Melody has over 10 years of experience teaching children, teens and adults. She was the full time fitness and dance instructor at her home dance and fitness studios for 3 years and has taught for the Niagra District School Board in Ontario, Canada. Melody also had the chance to choreograph some works during the "Choreographer's Ball" week in Los Angeles, and choreographed the opening solo piece for her University Program's spring show. Melody will be graduating this spring with an honours degree in Theatre Performance Dance from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario Canada, and will be continuing into a Master of Fine Arts program in Dance Choreography. She is certified in both Chechetti and R.A.D. ballet training methods and is currently choreographing and teaching 3 works for her upcoming finale show, "Coreographic Works 2008."

In addition to teaching modern dance and lyrical dance at ADTC, Melody has been a camp counselor in both the United States and Canada for over 5 years and has worked with beginner to advanced-level dancers. With her high energy and passion for teaching dance, Melody has been a great asset at ADTC! "Dancing is not about accomplishing perfect technique or being a perfect dancer. At ADTC, dancing is about expressing one's self, whether you are trained or not. ADTC gives inspiration to all dancers of all styles that we can all find a common ground and feel great about being ourselves. We build great friendships at ADTC with all the dancers and when a camper leaves, they will feel conten that they were a part of this wonderful family."
