ADTC Policies: Safety

• No swimming without a life guard present.
• No camper is to leave the camp grounds at any time or for any reason without a counselor.
• All campers must stay with the group and abide by all rules of activity vendors during field trips.
• The buddy system is in place for everywhere a camper goes. If someone needs to get up at night, a buddy is required.
• Flashlights are required when walking outside at night.
• Expect night noises: frogs, insects, owls, etc. Also, do not be alarmed when doors slam at night due to the wind!
• Locate where your team leader sleeps so you can find her during the night.
• It is safer, and not as hot, to walk instead of run in camp.
• Keep sunscreen on (even on cloudy days) and wear a hat. Swimming suit tops are not appropriate dress except at the pool.
• Always wear shoes and socks to prevent blisters, sore feet. etc.
• Raised hands mean silence for an announcement.
• Drink lots of water (8 cups a day). Headaches and stomachaches are the result of too little water.
• Keep camp beautiful. Put trash in cans, and pick up litter.
• Be aware of poison oak/ivy at camp. Wash thoroughly when contact occurs.
• Medicines are distributed by health care staff before meals. All campers are to see the Director for obtaining meds. If at anytime you need a band aide or don't feel well, please inform a staff member ASAP.
• Outgoing mail is picked up after breakfast. The mailbox is located in the Canteen.
• In the event of an emergency (fire, severe storm, etc.) it is important that you report to your team leader right away.
• No campers are allowed near a lake, pool, or horses without a staff member present.
• Keep living areas neat. Belongings should be kept in suitcases. Don't leave personal items in the showers or sink areas.
• Always stay with the group. Campers must get permission to go with their buddies away from the group. If you ever get lost, stay where you are - we will find you!

National Emergency

In the event of a national emergency and you are unable to contact the camp, be assured that we will care for each child as if she were our own until we can safely reunite her with you.
